El profesor de la Universidad de Sevilla Miguel Ángel Tabales coordina un nuevo proyecto de investigación que pretende responder a todas las dudas que aún hoy día existen sobre los orígenes del Real Alcázar de Sevilla. Las teorías más asentadas hasta ahora entre la comunidad científica y en la sabiduría popular en general afirman que la construcción de este conjunto de palacios y de la muralla que lo rodea se inició en la Alta Edad Media, en concreto en el siglo X. Sin embargo, los miembros del grupo de investigación Construcción Patrimonial, que llevan casi dos décadas trabajando en el Real Alcázar, defienden que esta datación es “completamente errónea” y así lo han demostrado con la publicación de más de 30 artículos científicos.
“La hipótesis que nosotros planteamos retrasa el origen del Real Alcázar de Sevilla al siglo XI y a los siglos XII y XIII el proceso de la gran transformación y expansión de este enclave”, afirma el arqueólogo Miguel Ángel Tabales, quien añade que “esta teoría ha sido muy conflictiva porque supone una revolución en los cimientos de la Historia de la Arquitectura poniendo en juego la superioridad del análisis científico sobre otras disciplinas basadas sobre todos en analogías no contrastadas”.
Para probar esta teoría y despejar cualquier tipo de duda de una vez por todas los investigadores han decidido analizar todas las murallas del Alcázar, con independencia de las numerosas intervenciones previas, y aplicar todos los métodos científicos posibles. Así, trabajarán con dos enfoques complementarios. Por un lado tratan de analizar de manera más profunda la estratigrafía para ver cómo se ha ido transformando, y por otro, desarrollan un estudio minucioso de la técnica constructiva a través del análisis cronotipológico, de manera que uniendo ambas lecturas puedan conseguir una catalogación lo más precisa posible.
La trascendencia de esta investigación es indudable ya que si finalmente se certifica que el origen cronológico del Real Alcázar no es el que se piensa, “podrían tambalearse los cimientos de la interpretación de un gran número de los edificios islámicos de España ya que se toma como prototipo este palacio”, según destaca este investigador.
Para alcanzar este objetivo los arqueólogos van a concentrar en un solo proyecto cinco técnicas distintas y complementarias; el análisis con carbono-14 y termoluminiscencia, estudios mensiocronológicos y termógraficos, y por último aplicarán una novedosa modalidad de clasificación de la construcción histórica siguiendo un sistema de código alfanumérico que presenta mayor índice de fiabilidad que los sistemas tipológicos tradicionales.
“La cantidad de análisis que hagamos finalmente dependerá de la financiación que nos concedan ya que seguimos pendiente de la resolución definitiva de la convocatoria de ayudas a Proyectos de Excelencia de la Junta de Andalucía de 2012, no obstante queremos analizar al menos la parte más antigua que es la más conflictiva”, concluye el profesor de la Universidad de Sevilla Miguel Ángel Tabales.
