En efecto, el dominio “.es”, fundado en 1989, cuenta ya con más de 1,7 millones de registros, 500.000 más que los “.com”, y representa la mitad de los dominios de Internet que existen en España, según ha indicado este martes el ministro de Industria, Energía y Turismo, José Manuel Soria, en un acto conmemorativo a los “pioneros” del indicativo.

Durante el acto, al que también acudieron el secretario de Estado de Telecomunicaciones y para la Sociedad de la Información, Víctor Calvo-Sotelo, y el director general de Red.es, César Miralles, Soria ha calificado el dominio “.es” como un “icono” de la marca España reconocido en el mundo entero como le ocurre a la gastronomía, al turismo y a los deportistas del país.

Los dominios.es se han desarrollado en paralelo a la evolución de Internet y han pasado de constituir un fenómeno minoritario a formar parte de la rutina profesional y personal de los ciudadanos del país“, ha señalado el titular de industria tras el acto de entrega a los premiados.

Soria ha indicado que, en el universo de dominios, el “.es” es una referencia de la cultura española, que se está afianzando y creciendo y ha agradecido a los “pioneros” del indicativo la confianza que demostraron por este “icono” de España.

Para seleccionar a los galardonados, se han analizado los 200 primeros registros “.es”, de los cuales 116 mantienen páginas web operativas y representan a todas las comunidades autónomas.

Por su parte, el secretario de Estado de Telecomunicaciones y para la Sociedad de la Información (Setsi), Víctor Calvo-Sotelo, ha explicado que los dominios “.es” creados en 1989 fueron gestionados en sus primeros años de desarrollo por RedIRIS y ha recordado que los primeros “.es” datan de 1991 siendo el más antiguo el del Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.

Calvo-Sotelo ha recordado además que en 2002 se inició un cambio de rumbo en la gestión de los “es”, que culminó con el Plan Nacional de Nombre de Dominio de 2005 y que propicio que, con condiciones menos estrictas, los dominios se triplicarán hasta los 300.000 registros.
